Rescue Me!!

Proven, quality hardware:

Landau Technologies offer a range of proven hardware products. We try to match proven, reliable hardware to the clients' needs, avoiding many problems that arise from poor quality hardware or hardware not match to either the software or specific network requirements.

Preferred hardware suppliers:

  • Octek brand computer workstations and servers.

It is important to us that that we only sell products within a supplier's range of equipment that is well suited to the task at hand and not just what is cheap or readily available. To ensure reliability and maximum performance for both our metropolitan and rural clients, particular attention is paid to the warranty regime, strength and construction of the hardware as well as access to spare parts and consumables.

Apples and Oranges - Genuine Comparisons:

Landau Technologies encourages genuine competition. It keeps us relevant and cost-effective and ensures the best possible solution for our clients. However from time to time, existing and potential clients may compare quotes and proposals without a full understanding of the major differences between them. Here are some of the topics that may be worth having a closer look:

Warranty Time Frame. How long does the warranty go for. Typically warranties last for one, two or three years. Naturally the longer the warranty, the more expensive the hardware will be.

Return-To-Base versus On-site Warranty. Return-To-Base means that YOU TAKE IT TO THE REPAIR CENTRE. On-Site means that the Service Agent comes to your business or practice. On-site incurs costs and therefore is more expensive than Return-To-Base. Our experience has been that the extra initial costs of On-Site warranty pale into insignificance compared to the costs of staff labour and additional downtime of Return-To-Base.

Wireless technology is changing the way we work. Landau Technologies can ensure that you enjoy the flexibility of wireless whilst retaining proper security.

Computer Specifications - Central Processor Unit. The CPU is the "thinking" part of the computer. Since July 2003 Landau Technologies only sells Intel Pentium IV or more powerful Intel CPUs. Our experience has shown that we avoid any problems with speed, reliability and heat. Unfortunately the Intel CPUs are also the most expensive. However, again the initial costs of higher performance and reliability warranty pale into insignificance compared to the costs of staff labour and additional downtime of Return-To-Base.

Labour. Since we started tracking in July 2002 projects lost and won and the reasons why, we have found a trend to lower total labour costs in projects lost to our competitors. However closer inspection of these projects lost revealed that the competitor DID NOT include nor undertake installation, configuration, set-up and test of the software. We strongly recommend that you seek complete explanation of all labour tasks detailed within the project proposal and that any task that your business or practice can not undertake themselves are included within the proposal. In close to 50% of the projects lost in this fashion, Landau Technologies have been contracted to come in post-installation and undertake additional network, software and hardware configuration; thus effectively driving the total project cost higher.

System Survey/Review:

To help us help you, we have devised a survey/review. If you are unhappy with your current provider and would like it reviewed or for us to take on your site as a valued client, fill in the form and fax through to us.
