To install a UPS

A UPS takes power from the 240 volt power supply, filters it and then delivers clean 240 volt power to the computer. Therefore it must be plugged in this way:

  • Power from the wall outlet goes into the UPS.

  • Power from the UPS goes to the computer tower and monitor.

240 Volt goes into the UPS

The UPS then powers
the computer tower and
monitor.

These socket outlets
on the right side go
to the computer tower
and monitor

This outlet on the left
with the prongs
connects to the wall.

The UPS must be on before
the computer tower and
monitor.

The UPS is beeping. What does this mean?

If the UPS is beeping, and the beeps are getting closer together, this normally indicates that it is using its battery power as the main 240 volt power has failed, is turned off or the plug has come out of the wall socket.

However any beeps other than a single periodic beep has a different meaning. They may indicate a fault with the electrical wiring, with the battery within the UPS or some other issue. Consult your user manual for further information.
