list can be found on an Internet site for a given piece of software or

| File |
A complete named collection of information
that is saved by a user and stored on a disk. It may contain program
code, data used by a program or user-created information. |
| Floppy Disk |
A small disk enclosed in a hard square of
plastic that can hold up to 1.44 MB of data. |

| Folder |
Containers for keeping files organised.
Sometimes also called directories. You can also have sub-folders
(sub-directories) and usually illustrated by a manila folder icon. |
| Format |
The process of preparing a disk for use. |
| Fragmentation |
A file, directory or disk is fragmented
when its various components are physically stored in a number of places
on the hard disk drive. It is best to keep fragmentation to a
minimum by running the disk defragmenter. |
| FTP |
File Transfer Protocol.
A set of rules that allows one computer to transfer files to another
computer across a TCP/IP network. |
| FTP Client |
A software package that makes FTP happen. |
