How do I check my version of PracSoft?

After PracSoft has opened, single-left-click on "Help" and then "About". PracSoft does not have the same "Network Upgrade Utility" that Medical Director has. Therefore it is important to remember that each and every workstation must be upgraded.


How often should I do a PracSoft Database Maintenance?

Experience has shown that a weekly PracSoft Database Maintenance prevents a lot of issues.


What needs to be done to run a PracSoft Database Maintenance?

Firstly, all servers and workstations must have PracSoft closed completely.
Secondly, run a backup.
Upon completion of the Database Maintenance, open PracSoft on the server. Once PracSoft has opened on the server, and not before, can PracSoft be opened on any workstations.


What does the error message FAL0802 or FAL0804 mean when running MedClaims?

A problem has occurred between the password in the HIC supplied DPS software and other programs, such as either MedComs or PracSoft. Run the "passfix" utility with assistance from the PracSoft HelpDesk.


What does the error message FAL0819 mean when running MedClaims?
A a zero (0kb) file in one of the following folders:

  • C:\Medcoms\generate
  • C:\DPS\dps2pms\bad
  • C:\DPS\pms2dps\bad 

has been created. This needs to be deleted


What does the error message FAL0820 mean when running MedClaims?

If your site transmits via with MedNetworks/MedComs, this means that the acknowledgement of the key has not been received by MedNetworks from the HIC or a corrupt file (i.e.: has a word in the file, not totally encrypted)


What does the error message FAL0822 mean when running MedClaims?

No files found for processing MedClaims whilst trying to send. Check the pracsoft.ini file to see that its pointing to correct drives. Optus isn't getting files into the outbound folder for DPS to process.


What does the error message FAL0830 FAL0842 mean when running MedClaims?

Not sure; however the fix that has worked in the past is to re-install DPS. You may either try this yourself, with the aid of the PracSoft HelpDesk or seek on-site assistance from us (standard rates apply).
