A Scandisk in Windows 95 / 98 is the same as a CHKDSK in Windows NT / 2000 / XP. They do work differently though.

1.    Double-left-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop,

2.    Single-right-click on the "C" Drive. On most sites installed by Landau Technologies, this will also read "hdd" and single-left-click on the "Properties" entry. The following box will appear.

3. Single-left-click on "Check Now". The following box will appear 4. Tick on both options as follows:

How do I Defragment my hard drive?

Do steps 1 and 2 as for CHKDSK.

Instead of a single-left-click on "Check Now", single-left-click on "Defragment Now".

When the following screen appears, single-left-click on "Defragment".

Unlike a CHKDSK, you can use your computer whilst you are defragmenting; however it is better to leave it run overnight.
